The film propelled the career of 16 year old Judy Garland and became a classic film in American culture. I can still remember sitting on the gymnasium floor as a kid in second grade at Miller School (now Martin Luther King, Jr. School) in Utica as we watched it for the first time.

In fact, my daughter has become quite the expert on the movie and Judy Garland as well. A cast member from that classic film will be making an appearance at Turning Stone and the 34th annual Oz-Stravaganza in Chittenango.

One of the last  "Munchkins" from "The Wizard of Oz" film, Karl Slover, died at age 93. My daughter Lauren is a big "Oz" fan and met Mr. Slover (as seen in the photo) this past June at Oz-Stravaganza in Chittenango. Notice the resemblance? (No, not Karl Slover and me, my daughter and me).
