Ice Fishing Group Rescued From Oneida Lake

"You're on thin ice". We've all heard that phrase but it took a literal turn Wednesday when, according to YNN, 6 adults and 2 children were rescued from Oneida Lake after a slab of ice they were fishing on broke free from the shoreline and began drifting. Local officials say they were ready for just such a situation.

Last week I was out at Sylvan Beach and was astounded at the high water levels and rough conditions on Oneida Lake. My first thought was that they could hold some surfing championships out there. Now, according to YNN, it appears that the official word is out-no boating on Oneida Lake.
