December 11, 2012 Flu season is now widespread throughout the state, and it's growing. As we reported last week, local hospitals said that they were seeing an increase of flu cases and people with flu-like symptoms in their ERs.
December 8, 2012 It is looking like this flu season will be one of the worst in recent memory. Last year, according to the Oneida County Health Department, there were a total of 329 confirmed cases of the flu. This year that total has already been left in the dust.

July 8, 2011 Oneida County Health Department officials have closed both Sylvan Beach and Verona Beach to swimmers following the discovery of a suspicious algae in the waters of Oneida Lake. According to a report from NewsChannel 2 WKTV inspectors from the Health Department were conducting a routine inspection when they discovered the blue-green algae which, they say, could be toxic and closed the beaches.
