(Photo by Mike Stobe for Getty Images) The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi begin this Friday, February 7th, with the Opening Ceremony.  As you get set to cheer on Team USA  for the next few weeks, these are some of the Olympic athletes to watch as they go for the gold.

The 2014 Winter Olympics is about to begin in Sochi, Russia with opening ceremonies scheduled for Friday February 7th at 8:14pm. There are a number of New York Olympians participating this year. 18 to be exact.

Behind every Olympic athlete is mom. The person who was there to catch them when the fell. To pick them back up and dust them off.  To nurse the cuts and bruises.both visible and emotional.  To sit in the stands, cheering them on every step of the way.  Proctor and Gamble salutes the women who create Olympic champions in their new Winter Olympics commercial.  And it's brilliant!
