If you're into home brewing, here's good news. The Great New York State Fair 2013 is teaming up with the F.X. Matt Brewing Company of Utica (my Alma Mater) for it's annual Home Brew Competition.
A few weeks ago, we mentioned how "The Great New York State Fair" was asking New York residents to come up with a new theme for the fair. The fair committee narrowed it down to ten themes, and now New Yorkers have voted for the winner.

Tokeru Kobayoshi has made a career out of eating, eating copious amounts of food in record time. He was at it again yesterday at the New York State Fair where, according to Syracuse.com, he devoured 100 Hoffman's hot dogs--without the buns--in 10 minutes in Chevy Court. The 128 pound Japanese born competitive eater has won numerous titles for his ability to consume amounts of food people twice his size would find difficult to even consider. And what did he plan to have for dinner? Another hot dog? Nope.
Tonight's Papa Roach show at the Great New York State Fair's Grandstand has been cancelled. However, the other performers, Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, and Adelitas Way, will play extended sets, according to a press release from NYS Fair News.
Sugarland will take the grandstand stage at the New York State Fair tonight. It was only a little over three weeks ago, their stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair, killing seven people. The entire band took time off to heal, then returned to the road to heal together. They began thier first show back in New Mexico with a moment of silence for the lives lost in the tragedy.
I'm sure they'll take a moment tonight as well. Then they'll do what they do and rocked the roof off the place.
Dotti Spina of Sauquoit got to meet Jerry Springer at the New York State fair. He was in town Wednesday to promote his new GSN show 'Baggage' at the Time Warner building. Dotti found out Jerry shares a birthday with her son. Jerry told Dotti he was born in England close to where her dad grew up and was born on a subway. She says he's a very nice NORMAL man. Thanks for sharing your pictures. I'm glad Jerry was such a great guy!
The Great New York State Fair opens today and runs daily through Labor Day, September 5th. It's a great family day trip and one of the final major events of the Frog Days of Summer.
