Today we introduce a new theme to our "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m...silly songs. I can't entirely take credit for this, as it was suggested to me by my good friend and colleague, Matt Herkimer. So, here are two songs that live up to the word silly. We begin with the king of novelty songs, Jerry Reed and his number one hit in 1982, "She Got the Goldmine (I Got The Shaft)", one of the greatest country song titles ever.

The classic Burt Reynolds-Jackie Gleason comedy was released on this date, May 19, 1977. Bootlegging, Coors beer, fast cars, an unforgettable cast of characters and a great country music soundtrack helped it score big with working class audiences who made it the second highest grossing film of the year.
