October 30, 2012 If you have plans to go to New York or other locations along the east coast via Amtrak or Greyhound be advised that many routes have been cancelled due to the ongoing problems caused by Hurricane Sandy. Since many travel plans include connections in New York City it may well be that travel plans to other parts of the country may also be affected.
October 30, 2012 Although Hurricane Sandy has transitioned to a post-tropical cyclone, it's still expected to produce strong winds. Central New York is under a wind advisory until 5 this afternoon.
Our area will see some rain but nothing like they've had in New York City and New Jersey. The biggest concern is the winds at 25 miles an hour with gusts up to 40 mph. Higher elevations could see stronger conditions which could result in downed trees and power lines.

October 29, 2012 A vital transportation route in New York State has been closed by Hurricane Sandy. The Tappan Zee Bridge, which carries the New York State Thruway over the Hudson River has closed to all traffic.
