The list of TV shows based on movies is long. Some were wildly successful, "MASH", "The Odd Couple" and ""Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" come to mind. Now two more iconic films, "Psycho" and "Silence of the Lambs" are getting the big screen to small treatment with "Bates Motel" ("Psycho")--which premiered last night--and "Hannibal" ("Silence of the Lambs") debuting this season. With Halloween this week, monster movies are showing up on Cable just about every night. We all have a favorite monster (from the movies, not someone you work with). As a kid growing up in Utica, every Saturday my friends and I would head down to the Avon, Olympic or Rialto Theater to watch a monster movie double feature. Rumor has it that some of us had to sleep with the night light on that night. So, who is my favorite monster?

When it comes to Halloween movies, the hands-down favorite in the Greg "Splashin'" McShea household is the 1993 film, "Hocus Pocus". If you've never seen it, it's a comedy that features Bette Midler at her witchiest best, along with Sarah Jessica Parker (before her starring role in "Sex And the City").
