The U.S. Postal Service is expecting to handle a record number of packages this holiday season. One of the major reasons is the increase in online shopping which, when combined with the usual sending of cards and letters is expected to result in an increase of some 20% over last seasons mailings. It's Columbus Day Observance Today

Today is the observance of Columbus Day, which means that schools, banks, financial institutions, post offices and many governmental offices are closed. Remember that little rhyme from your school days, "In 14 hundred and ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue." In addition, our neighbors to the north (and Polly Wog) are celebrating Thanksgiving Day in Canada today. And this is a rather early observance of Columbus Day.

Matt Damon Plays Santa For A Cause [VIDEO]

Matt Damon has taken on the role of Santa Clause in this video. No, it's not for a new movie, it's for a cause--clean water. According to Water.org, which is the website displayed at the beginning of the video, the organization was co-founded by Damon and Gary White. And, according to the 'About Us' on the website, "Water.org is a nonprofit organization that has transformed hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia, and Central America by providing access to safe water and sanitation."
