When my wife and I purchased a winter getaway home in Cape Coral last month we knew we would have to go down and set up shop. We also heard that July in Florida was, to put it mildly, hot enough to melt steel. This past week we experienced that first hand. The heat and the humidity had us in the car heading to Fort Myers Beach ASAP. Did we find blessed relief?

Central New York is going to feel more like Central Florida today. There is an excessive heat warning in effect until 8 tonight. The hot and humid weather could cause dehydration, muscle cramps, severe headaches and heat exhaustion.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing and drink plenty of water. If you're working outside, schedule frequent breaks and keep in the shade as much as possible.
