July 6, 2011 It was on this day, July 6th 1994, that "Forrest Gump" starring Tom Hanks was released. The movie won six Academy Awards including one for Hanks in the lead role. It also started an endless stream of "Forrest Gump" inpersonations with at least one person at every party introducing themselves by saying, "My name is (fill in name). People call me (name again)".
