Week Three of the 2011 NFL schedule kicks off the first weekend of fall. Two games feature undefeated teams pitted against each other, while several, key intra-divisional rivalries meet for the first time this season. Meanwhile, winless teams are scrambling to save their 2011 season before it’s too late.
September 21, 2011 While most of the regional colleges have a couple of games already in the books, Hamilton College Continentals kick off their football season this Saturday, with a home opener against Tufts University.
After players used week one of the 2011 NFL season to reward the football faithful with NFL records for passing yards, special-team return touchdowns and sacks, week two brings several early season games that could be future playoff, or, perhaps, conference championship previews. With temperatures turning fall-like in the east, fans will likely be treated to great football in near-perfect football weather.
This week, things start getting interesting in college football with a handful of conference games, a couple of contests between ranked teams and, arguably, the non-conference game of the year under the lights in Tallahassee. Here are the highlights for the Top 25:

Oklahoma on Sunday became the first team ever to be ranked #1 in the AP football poll 100 times.
The Sooners were ranked #1 for the first time in 1954, the second year of Oklahoma’s NCAA-record 47-game winning streak, which lasted from 1953-1957. They have spent at least one week in the top spot in 19 different seasons.
September 12, 2011 Monday Night Football debuts tonight for the regular 2011 season with two games on tap. Gone are the glory days of Monday Night Football when Frank Gifford, "Dandy" Don Meridith and Howard Cosell manned the three-man booth.
While many of this weekend’s games were just tune-ups for showdowns to come, there were several great battles to keep things exciting, including Michigan’s last-second win over Notre Dame, South Carolina’s shootout victory over Georgia and Auburn stuffing Mississippi State at the goal line to win their 17th straight game.

University of Minnesota Golden Gophers head football fcoach Jerry Kill spent Saturday night in a Minneapolis hospital after suffering a seizure on the sidelines during the waning moments of his team’s 28-21 loss to New Mexico State.
As you might expect this time of year, there are not a lot of marquee games and only one matchup between top 25 teams (#3 Alabama vs. #23 Penn State). But there are still a lot of intriguing matchups that will start to tell us who are contenders and who are pretenders. H
