There is one sure way to avoid a hangover and that is---all together now--don't drink. Short of that a cure for those who do imbibe and suffer the morning after consequences is needed because, according to research, a staggering $148 billion dollars worth of production is lost by American companies due to hangovers. Now scientists are coming forward saying more research to find a cure is needed.

Utica has always been known as a great beer town thanks to the F.X Matt Brewery and its variety of first rate products and now its about to become a top shelf vodka town. WKTV reports that the Adirondack Distilling Company of Utica is preparing to release its first batch of locally produced vodka. The Varick Street based distillery will have a distinctively Central New York flavor.

Another popular Utica eatery will soon be closing its doors. The Friendly's restaurant on Genesee Street in North Utica will close January 22nd. According to the Utica Observer -Dispatch the closing is the result of its lease being terminated by the property owner. However the news isn't all bad.

Burger King Mascot Dethroned

With all due respect to the creative advertising wizards who created him I must say that the Burger King mascot always gave me the creeps. Apparently a lot of people felt the same way as Burger King has decided to retire him. That huge head and scary smile were not seen as warm and cozy by anyone, especially kids. According to The Washington Post the final straws in his demise were actually television commercials.
