Firefighters in Northern Oneida County are busy battling a fire that erupted overnight in the village of Boonville. The fire started in a building on Main Street and spread to nearby buildings. Frankfort Fire at Former Union Tools Factory Photos

A major fire at the former Union Tools factory in Frankfort had a number of firefighters, from several counties on scene for hours. The smoke could be seen for miles. The fire destroyed a number of buildings on the property but no one was injured. Gino Geruntino from WIBX took pictures of the blaze.

South Utica Sports Plex Fire Takes Toll On Central New York Roller Derby League

The massive fire at the South Utica Sports Plex not only left the members of the Central New York Roller Derby League without a practice facility but destroyed thousands of dollars worth of their equipment. According to their website the league--which plays its home games at the RFK Rink in Rome--had just recently begun using the facility as a practice site and had stored much of it gear there.

On my drive into Big Frog 104 studios this morning, I encountered bumper-to-bumper traffic going north on the North-South Arterial in South Utica. There was single lane traffic due to an accident and the early morning fire at the South Utica Sports Plex on French Road. I could see the smoldering building with caved in roof from the car and realized that the fire must have been quite extensive.
