Here's a video from ABC 7 News KGO-TV San Francisco, CA telling the story of a cannonball experiment not going as planned conducted by the Discovery Channel show "MythBusters". According to the report, the television show was testing to see if other materials fired out of a cannon would be the same as firing a cannonball out of a cannon. According to the ABC 7 News report, the cannonball missed its target, hit a house, bounced off the road, hit a roof of another house and then landed inside a minivan. Nobody was hurt. While doing a little Internet browsing, I came across this Diet Coke and Mentos experiment video. There are two variations of the experiment. One is the put Mentos candy into a bottle of Diet Coke and watch a soda geyser erupt. The other variation, which is displayed in this video gem, is to put the candy in the soda quickly, put the cap back on the bottle and throw it at the ground--it creates a rocket-like effect. Watch what happens next.
