It's long been known that so-called "energy drinks" can have an adverse effect on certain individuals. Now a new study by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration shows that energy related emergency room visits doubled from the year 2007 to 2011. What were the adverse effects?

What had been suspected has now been confirmed by the FDA. "5-Hour Energy", a very popular highly caffeinated drink has been linked to 13 deaths. The New York Times reported the agencies findings and said the FDA is considering ways to inform the public about the adverse effects but, as yet, has set no timetable. In response to the report Living Essentials, the parent company of "5-Hour Energy" issued this statement.

A month ago tiger blood meant blood from a tiger. Now it seems it's whats running through Charlie Sheen's veins. And Jimmy Buffett wants to capitalize on the media craze. According to TMZ, he's applied for a pair of trademarks for "Tiger Blood" - one for use in vodka and one for energy drinks. Buffett already has his own beer, Land Shark Lager and his own Margaritaville tequila in silver and gold. So why not Tiger Blood vodka and energy drinks? It would give new meaning to a "Bloody Mary" that's for sure.
