Generation Y Not Enthused About Driving

It was a rite of passage for generations, that trip to the DMV on your 16th birthday to get your learner's permit. We couldn't wait to get behind the wheel and head out to the open road. Apparently "Generation Y", those 80 million U.S citizens between the ages of 18 and 34, aren't quite as enthused about driving as previous generations. A report from Reuters says that the average annual number of vehicle-miles traveled by people ages 16-34 dropped 23 percent, from 10,300 to 7,900 from 2001 to 2009 and there are a number of reasons why.
