We now know why Dexter Roberts left the American Idol tour. He was suffering from Rocky Mountain Spotter Tick fever. Roberts broke the news on his Facebook page.

American Idol said goodbye to country boy Dexter Roberts. The Alabama native was eliminated after finding himself in the bottom with Jessica Meuse, who I thought should have been the one sent home.  Her version of Miranda Lambert's Gunpowder and Lead fell flat.

Former American Idol David Cook returned to mentor the Top 8 for 80s week, a decade when none of the Idols were even born.  I was really looking forward to this week since 80s music is my all time favorite, but it was a little boring. Dexter Roberts delivered an average performance of 'Keep Your Hands to Yourself.' CJ Harris' 'Free Fallin'' was a bit better.  Thankfully rocker Caleb Johnson saved

The American Idol Top 8 went back to where it all started, performing their audition songs. Country boy Dexter Roberts sang Brett Eldredge's 'One Mississippi,' CJ Harris poured his soul into 'Soul Shine,' but it was Malaya Watson who had the performance of the night with 'Ain't No Way.'

Dexter Roberts went to the 'Boondocks,' Caleb Johnson got sexy, Jennifer Lopez dropped the F-bomb and Harry Connick Jr. insulted Keith Urban fans on American Idol. It was a jam packed night of entertainment as the Top 9 were 'In with the Band,' performing band songs on American Idol.

The 'American Idol' Top 10 chose Top 10 songs from the past three years. Unfortunately no one delivered a Top 10 performance. CJ Harris was 'Invisible' while Dexter Roberts chose to 'Cruise' and may cruise into the bottom three this week.

After weeks of lackluster performances, the 'American Idol' Top 11 finally brought their A game for 'Songs of the Cinema' week. Soulful singer CJ Harris became a frontrunner with 'Can't You See.' Country boy Dexter Roberts honored his sweet home of Alabama and rocker Caleb Johnson delivered an amazing, unpredictable performance of Adele's 'Skyfall.'

Country boy Dexter Roberts had one of the best performances of the night as the American Idol Top 12 sang songs that reminded them of home. Roberts put his own spin on Montgomery Gentry's 'Lucky Man,' slowing it down and having Keith Urban calling it the 'perfect song' with 'an incredible moment.'

The top 13 will become the top 12 on 'American Idol.' One will be sent home tonight after performing for 'This is Me' night, choosing a song that defines them as an artist. Several artists defined themselves as country artists, but it was Ben Briley who had the country moment of the night, singing Johnny Cash's 'Folsom Prison Blues.'

Did Ethan Harris make the 'American Idol' Top 30?  The judges started making final cuts but we won't know Ethan's fate until tonight. We did find out Dexter Roberts will represent country, making the top 15 boys. We heard the other country boys, CJ Harris and Casey Thrasher sing against each other, but the show ended before we heard which will move on.

Still no siting of locals Ethan Harris or Kaitlyn Jackson on 'American Idol,' as the group round began. We did get to see country boys Ben Briley, Casey Thrasher, and Dexter Roberts come together to form 'Backstreet Cowboys' and sing the Backstreet Boys 'I Want it That Way.'

Although we didn't see locals Ethan Harris or Kaitlyn Jackson, we did seem some great talent as Hollywood week began on 'American Idol.'  From Dexter Roberts, who asked Keith Urban play his guitar to single father Casey Thraser who sang one of the greatest country songs of all time.
