We'll wrap it up with the number one country song this week in 1986, "Living In The Promised Land" by Willie Nelson.
June 26, 2012 We've set the way-back machine for way back on today's "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. The year was 1966 and the number one country song in the U.S.A. was "Take Good Care Of Her", by Sonny James. Sonny also had a number of pop hits during the 1960s as well. And seeing that we're reminiscing about the 60s, we'll also hear from Jeannie C. Riley and her number one song in 1968, "Harper Valley PTA".
June 25, 2012 We kick off our Monday "Country Classic Double" with country's super group, Alabama. Today, we're featuring their number one hit in 1984, "When We Make Love". We'll stay with that "group" theme with our second song, "Bluest Eyes In Texas", a number one for Restless Heart in 1988.
June 22, 2012 One of the most successful singer/songwriters in both country and pop music is Kris Kristofferson, and today is his 76th birthday. We begin today's "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. with a song he wrote and Sammi Smith recorded, "Help Me Make It Through The Night", which went to number one in 1971. You may remember when he was recording with the Highwaymen (along with friends Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings), so we'll feature a song recorded by them as well.
June 20, 2012 We begin our "Country Classic Double" today at 11:30 a.m. with the birthday girl, Anne Murray, who is 67 years old today and her big hit from 1978, "You Needed Me". Anne is known as the "Canadian Songbird" and has one of the richest voices in both country and pop music (and is one of my favorites).

June 18, 2012 One of my favorite country artists is Emmylou Harris, and today we begin our "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. with her number one country song on this day back in 1978, "Two More Bottles Of Wine". Emmylou is known for her singing songs from the roots of country and is considered the "Americana" wing of country music.
June 15, 2012 Let's honor dad on today's "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. with two "daddy" songs. We begin with Johnny Cash and family with "Daddy Sang Bass". We'll follow it up with Holly Dunn and that Father's Day favorite, "Daddy's Hands".
