Who’s Your Favorite Scrooge?

You know the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge, the main character in Charles Dickens'  "A Christmas Carol". Through the years, there have been numerous movies, TV presentations and live productions of that haunted holiday story. In fact, just last weekend The Players of Utica presented "Scrooge - The Musical" at the Stanley Center for the Arts in downtown Utica, with Richard Enders reprising his role as Scrooge.

It’s Christmas Cookie Time

At this time of year, I feel like the "Cookie Monster". Those Christmas cookies are everywhere, and if I ate all the cookies that arrive at the radio station every day, I wouldn't be able to fit through the Big Frog 104 studio door!

Getting The Perfect Christmas Tree

We always like a real Christmas tree for the holidays. The other day, my wife and I got our McShea family Christmas tree (no, not an adventure like getting the Griswold family Christmas treee), but we did get the perfect Christmas tree. During these later "Frog Days of Fall", for those of you looking for the perfect Christmas tree for your home, I have a few suggestions.

A Holiday Favorite TV Commercial

Once in a while, a TV commercial can convey emotion, especially during the holidays. And sometimes, the feeling that you get from a commercial has more to do with your holiday memories than the product they're selling. Here's one you may have seen that creates an image of an old-fashioned Christmas in the country.

An Inspirational Classic TV Commercial

Sometimes during the Christmas season, a TV commercial may capture the spirit of the holidays. And this one is a classic - the Hilltop Singers performing "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing", a holiday commercial for "Coca-Cola" that was also later released as a pop song in the 1970s.

Our Favorite Holiday Movies

We all have our favorite holiday movies, and that's the case in the McShea household. This time of year, the TV networks start airing those classic features just about every night. One of the all-time favorite holiday movies is the Jimmy Stewart/Donna Reed film, "It's a Wonderful Life", but that's not our favorite.

Christmas Cards By Mail Or E-Mail?

'Tis the season for Season's Greetings, and that may come in the form of Christmas cards. During the later half of the "Frog Days of Fall", many of you may be sending out those holiday greeting cards, or not. I remember when I was about 4 years old, my grandmother and mother sitting at the dining room table with a list of names and addresses of dozens of people that I never hear of. The reason? They were writing out their Christmas cards.

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Going Up

If you decide to visit New York City during the "Frog Days of Fall", one must-see stop is the huge Christmas Tree that they put up in Rockefeller Center every year. This year's tree is a Norway Spruce that came from Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and is 75 feet tall (I doubt that we have ceilings high enough for that one in the McShea household).
