December 14, 2011 You know the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge, the main character in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". Through the years, there have been numerous movies, TV presentations and live productions of that haunted holiday story. In fact, just last weekend The Players of Utica presented "Scrooge - The Musical" at the Stanley Center for the Arts in downtown Utica, with Richard Enders reprising his role as Scrooge.

Consumer Reports conducted a poll to find out what we dread the most during the holidays and the number one response was--surprise, surprise--"crowds and long lines" at 68%. What other things have us saying,

I remember when I was about 4 years old, my grandmother and mother sitting at the dining room table with a list of names and addresses of dozens of people that I never hear of. The reason? They were writing out their Christmas cards.
November 17, 2011 If you decide to visit New York City during the "Frog Days of Fall", one must-see stop is the huge Christmas Tree that they put up in Rockefeller Center every year. This year's tree is a Norway Spruce that came from Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and is 75 feet tall (I doubt that we have ceilings high enough for that one in the McShea household).
