Earlier, we learned that the Utica Boilermaker Road Race 15k slots were all filled. Today, according to press@boilermaker.com, the 5k hit its race cap of 4,000 registrants. As Race Director Jim Stasaitis said, "Last year at this time, we had 59 runners signed up."

If you're planning to run the Boilermaker road race in Utica this year, you can sign up starting tomorrow. Registration opens for the 15k and 5k runs. Entries are limited to 14,000 runners in the 15k race and 4,000 in the 5k. Sign up online or at Planet Fitness in New Hartford from 8 until noon.

Whether you're going forwards or backwards, it was all about getting out and moving for the Boilermaker walk. These kids decided to do the entire Boilermaker walk backwards this year. But they put plastic faces on the backs of their heads to look like they were walking forward. Boilermaker weekend is all about getting out, getting active or just cheering everyone else on and most importantly, having fun.

If you want to run in this years Utica Boilermaker Road Race you better hurry. The registration list has topped 11, 100 runners and with a cap of 13,000 for the 15K there seems to be little doubt that the field will be full before race day, Sunday July 10. Last year at this point there were only about one-third the number of entries so time is of the essence.
