80′s Movie Re-Makes That Probably Aren't Necessary

Re-making great movies is always tricky business but re-making movies that weren't so great to begin with really begs the question, "why"? There are apparently a number of good and not-so-good 80's movies that are currently in the planning stages. Is it really necessary to re-make these?

The National Geographic Channel's 6-part salute to the 1980's, "The 80's:The Decade That Made Us" debuts tonight with the first two episodes, "The Revolutionaries" at 8 and "Shop Til You Drop" at 9. The series reviews the cultural highlights and lowlights along with the historical and political milestones of that decade. Check out the trailer and maybe you'll decide to revisit your inner "Valley Girl" or try to solve your Rubik's cube.

Don Johnson Sheds His "Miami Vices"

He was the epitome of '80's cool. Sonny Crockett, played by Don Johnson, gave "Miami Vice" the fashion look every guy wanted. A loose suit over a T-shirt and deck shoes with no socks, now that was cool. Don Johnson, however, was fighting his own demons. "I was a multiple substance kind of guy", he tells Rolling Stone, "I would drink, smoke pot, do cocaine, maybe eat a Quaalude. I'd wake up the next morning feeling like I'd been hit by a truck". Not so anymore.
