There's nothing like getting away to recharge your batteries. Every year, we relax on Emerald Isle in North Carolina. This year it was hard to leave after a week of sunshine, dolphin and wild horse watching, boat trips and beach napping. Just look at the view from our bedroom window.

In addition to the beautiful sunsets from our front porch, dolphins often swam pass every morning.

The dolphins weren't the only animals we were lucky enough to see. During a boat ride we saw the wild horses on Shackleford Island.

The boat we toured around in was nice but not as nice as the Carolina Panthers owner's boat.

The boat tour even included a stop to see the lighthouse on Cape Lookout. We were going to walk up to the top but there were OVER 100 steps and it was HOT!

Not everything was sunshine and roses. We had a bit of a problem in one of the downstairs bedrooms when the bathroom overflowed. Luckily nothing was ruined, but the ceiling.

There were no bad sunburns this year. I guess you learn to reapply suntan lotion throughout the day after a few years. However, my feet swelled up like a cooked hot dog. No idea why and it eventually went away.

We went from sun and sand to a severe thunderstorm in Pennsylvania, which made coming home even harder.

I prefer the heat lightening storms that brightened the North Carolina sky.
