Central New Yorkers who love Dairy Queen Blizzards or a Mr Misty (they don't call them that anymore but I do, cause I'm old school DQ), have been out-of-luck for years as the company has had no locations in CNY. That's about to change as a Dairy Queen is set to return to the region.

Syracuse.com reports that Dairy Queen is eyeing a location on US 11 in the Syracuse suburb of Cicero that is set to open in summer of 2015.

The town planning board is still reviewing things, but the project should be ready to move forward in the next few weeks, said Bob Smith, planning board chairman. The developers are hoping to have the 2,500-square-foot Dairy Queen open in the summer, according to planning board minutes.

The site will include a second 2,200-square-foot restaurant as well. It'll be a national chain, although developers haven't said which one yet, Smith said.

A DQ previously existed in the Syracuse area at the Great Northern Mall in Clay and also in Rome. The closest Dairy Queen presently is in Oneonta.
