'Sweetwater,' a film based on the first African-American NBA athlete and player for the New York Knicks, will be filmed and produced in Upstate New York.

'Sweetwater' stars Wood Harris, James Caan, Nathan Lane, Brian Dennehy, Patrick Warburton and Ludacris (Chris Bridges).

Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney says, 'Onondaga County has a proud tradition of civil rights and basketball being home to Syracuse University and the 1955 NBA Champion Syracuse Nationals, 'Sweetwater' is the perfect film to be produced in Upstate New York.'

The $10 million production, will create 150 full and part time jobs, along with hundreds of extras. Locations in the City of Albany, Albany County and Central New York will be utilized for filming. Post production will be done at the new Central New York Hub for Emerging Nano Industries in DeWitt, NY. All job inquiries can be emailed to filmhousejobs@gmail.com.

Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton became the first African-American to play under contract in the NBA when he signed with the New York Knicks in 1950. He was named to the 1957 NBA All-Star team and at age 34, became the oldest player in NBA history to be named an All-Star. Sweetwater is being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2014.

Clifton passed away on August 31st, 1990 at the age of 67.
