Hey parents, school's almost done and what's that mean? More time with the kiddos! Or maybe school was the perfect babysitter and 'she's' taking a two month break, uh oh! Here's some summer activities and camp (day care? haha) ideas for 2013 in the Utica area...

The JCC always has something going on and their annual Summer Camp kicks off for toddlers aged 3-6 on July 8 and runs six weeks until August 16th. You can drop the little terrors off at 9am Monday Thru Friday and pick them up at noon for lunch.


The Tri-Valley YMCA (Oneida/Rome/Utica) all have camps for kids aged 4-17 and run from the close of most schools, June 24 through the last day of August. The day starts at 8am and runs well into the afternoon. Each week has a special theme to keep even the most bored kid active and interested.


This camp in the foothills of the Adirondacks is for kids aged 9-15 and is open for three weeks starting on July 21st. It features 300+ acres of nature fun and you can register for one week or all three at $350 per week.


Depending on your child's age this camp's dates and times vary but collectively the program runs from July 8th to August 23rd and anywhere between 9am and 4:30 pm depending on if you sign up for a half-day or full day. Each spot is age specific from Kindergarten through the 6th grade. Half day sessions are $100 a piece and full-day sessions are $150.


Another camp in the Adirondack foothills (Taberg). Ages 8-14 are welcome here including those with special needs. Dates run from July 7th Through August 17th. $440 will get your kid in for the whole session.


In their 21st year, this camp runs for a few days in July (15-18, 22-25) for kids aged 6-13. Camp runs from 8:30-4:30 most weekdays and till 8pm on Thursdays. Geology, gemology, paleontology, astronomy, biology, earth science, and entomology will all be covered and in fun, interactive and memorable ways.


This camp is open to kids aged 6-14 and runs from 830-4pm with options to bring your kids an hour earlier and keep them an hour later. Each week has a neat theme teaching kids fun and valuable life skills running from June 24th through August 16th. the cost is $160 per week.


If you're around to hang out with your kids and are looking for something to do together with them, every Tuesday and Wednesday from July 9th to August 28th two FREE movies for kids to choose from show at the Marquee theater at 9:30 in the morning. Click above for the full listing of movies!
