Storm Injures 8 At Pine Lake Campground

A severe thunderstorm blew through the Pine Lake campground on Saturday evening, uprooting trees, damaging trailers, and injuring 8 people.  There were an estimated 1,000 gathered at the park for the annual Eddie Music Festival when the storm hit.

According to the Leader Herald, 2 people suffered serious injuries.  Fire officials from Fulton and Herkimer Counties responded to the calls, and say the campground at Pine Lake has been devastated.

Pine Lake is located in the Town of Caroga, northeast of Dolgeville.  The music festival is a 12-hour fundraising concert featuring live music from several bands.

Four people were also injured on Saturday when they were struck by lightning near Lake George.  Earlier in the week, 2 people were killed in the town of Batavia when they were struck by lightning.
