One of the biggest pains in the world is waiting for your cellphone to charge. It seems like it can take forever, but take a matter of minutes to drain the life out of it again. A company named StoreDot is looking to solve that problem for you. They designed a new battery for your smartphone that will charge in about 30 seconds to full strength.

Science Alert is reporting that StoreDot's prototype battery isn't ready for the market place just yet. However, when it is, it fully charged a dead Samsung Galaxy S4 in just 26 seconds. 26 seconds, and the battery life was to 100 percent.

Reuters compares the new battery to an incredibly dense sponge, able to soak up power and retain it more efficiently than ever before. The team has predicted that it will be ready for commercialisation by late 2016. They expect a slim, smartphone-friendly iteration to be on the market by early 2017, and it will be able to pump your phone with a day’s worth of energy within seconds."

Experts say when the new battery is released, you can expect to spend up to $150 more than the average smartphone does now, and this battery would be able to handle around 1,500 recharge cycles for a three-year lifespan. Not too bad right?
