There are so many family traditions that occur during the holiday season. There is getting and decorating a Christmas tree, baking and decorating Christmas cookies, and unique ways to exchange gifts. Well, how about this fun and friendly new tradition? A gingerbread house-making competition!

This is the first year we've really done it and it is an idea that stemmed from something my family did a couple years ago. Either in teams or individually you get the same gingerbread making kit and each person or team comes up with a theme to decorate their house. After all are complete you take photos of each and then put the collage on Facebook with only a number to identify the houses. Have your friends on social media vote and choose a winner. It's a fun way to bond with members of your family and have a little healthy holiday friendly competition.

My mom, sisters, girlfriend and I participated this year and these were the houses we made! Which one would you vote for?

I will tell you that in our own Facebook poll, my girlfriend Dallas was the winner. Which will you choose?

Remember it's all in good fun and the end result is eating a lot of leftover candy!
