Stand By Me On The Classic Double
On today's "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. we're featuring country re-dos of pop hits. One of the biggest was "Stand By Me", which hit number one on the country charts when Mickey Gilley recorded it in 1980. It was originally a pop hit for Ben E. King in 1961, and Mickey's version was also featured in the the John Travolta motion picture, "Urban Cowboy".
Here's a video performance by Mickey Gilley at Branson, Missouri singing "Stand By Me".
Enter Mickey Gilley as the first artist of today's "Country Classic Double" in our Rewards Club for a chance to win a Boilermaker entry for the 15k race on July 8th.
