We've teamed up with Whites Farm Supply and James Wesley to 'Thank a Farmer' at FrogFest.  We've been asking you to nominate farmers who deserve recognition and 2 will be James Wesley's special guests at FrogFest June 15th.  Today we thank the Smith farm in Lowell, nominated by Sarah Smith.

'My grandfather Emerson Parker Smith, known as Parker Smith in the town of Lowell, began the farm but his son Gary, my dad, is the one running the farm he was raised on. He's had a rough time of it, losing his youngest child about 13yrs ago. 4 years later his mom passed away from a stroke, and last year (about a month before my dad's 1st grandchild was born) he lost his father. My dad runs a very small dairy farm that has been in our family for more than 150 year. He milks the traditional way, by bringing the machines to the cows (no milking parlor).

My father is so much like my grandfather (like the rest of my siblings and I are) when it comes to their values and way of life. My father has been through A LOT emotionally and physically, he was even considering selling the farm but after his father passing away he couldn't go through with it. Farming is his life.

Every time the lights in the barn are turned on the radio is turned onto 104.3. I would LOVE to thank my father, Gary Smith and would like him to represent our family farmers in our area!'

Thank you Sarah for nominating your family's Farm and thank you Parker and Gary Smith for what you do everyday. We’ll put you in the random drawing to be James Wesley’s special guests at FrogFest June 15th, so he can ‘Thank a Farmer.’
