One small New York town has made the Sundance Film Festival with an entertaining story about fame.

The small town of Liberty, New York is the setting for Sundance Film selection movie HITS, a film about a small-town girl who dreams of fame while her father becomes a viral hit due to his confrontation with the local town council.

This indie film is the directorial debut of David Cross and features a number of celebrities including Michael Cera, Wyatt Cenac, Meredith Hagner, Matt Walsh and Jason Ritter.

HITS is described as:

HITS is a dark comedy exploring the nature of fame in 21st Century YouTube America. The film takes place in a small town in upstate New York populated by people who trade in unrealistic expectations. Its a story in which fame, delusion, earnestness, and recklessness meet, shake hands, and disrupt the lives around them.

The movie is currently available in a "pay-what-you-want" format along with Video On Demand and showings at select theaters. It certainly aims to capture life in a small New York town and certainly lives up to its tagline "Based on a true story...that hasn't happened yet."
