The Top 7 on American Idol took on songs from the last 2 years, yet most were songs I'd never heard of.   Who stood out? Country girl Skylar Laine kicked off the night.

Skylar Laine 'Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You'

Skylar Laine stuck to her country roots with Kellie Pickler's 'Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You.' Although she delivered great vocals, she may have been better off picking a more popular song. And since she went first, she may have been overshadowed by those that followed. I fear, she may be in trouble this week.

Skylar & Colton 'Don't You Wanna Stay'

Rumors have been swirling over Skylar and Colton Dixon dating. Last week's duet of 'Islands in the Stream' just fueled the fire. This week, they were teamed up again for 'Don't You Wanna Stay.' Even though Colton isn't a country guy, he held his own. Skylar did Kelly Clarkson proud, singing her part in the song beautifully.

Colton Dixon 'Love The Way You Lie'

Skylar's duet partner Colton, also picked an unfamiliar song called 'Love The Way You Lie.' For him, I don't think it'll matter. His vocals while sitting at the piano were so good Steven Tyler said he could record the song and have it on the radio tomorrow, and I agree.

    Jessica Sanchez 'Stuttering'

Jessica Sanchez continues to shine. It's hard to believe she's only 16 years old. Jessica also went with an unknown song called 'Stuttering,' but she can sing anything and could be this year's winner.

    Joshua Ledet 'Runaway Baby'

Joshua Ledet switched things up a bit this week but going up tempo with 'Runaway Baby.' I didn't recognize this song either but was entertained. The judges gave him a standing ovation. I thought it was good, but not that good.

Phillip Phillips 'Give A Little More'

Phillip Phillips may be in trouble this week too. He choose 'Give a Little More,' which was appropriate since that's exactly what the judges and I'm sure America wants. He's just doing the same thing each week and it's starting to get stale. If he's the one to go this week, I predict the judges will use their save on him.

    Elise Testone 'You & I'

Elise Testone may have been in the bottom 2 last week, but I see her sailing through this week after closing the show with 'You & I.' First it was a familiar song from Lady Gaga the audience could sing along to, and she killed it. Best performance of the night for me.

    Hollie Cavanagh 'Perfect'

Hollie Cavanagh could be the one to go this week, if the judges don't use their save. She went with Pink's 'Perfect,' and was anything but. There was a number of pitch problems and the tempo was off.
