I remember as a kid, my parents would always take us on a picnic during the Memorial Day Weekend, regardless of the weather. One year, the temperature was in the 50s, and the wind was blowing, but we still made our way to Green Lakes State Park with jackets on. The State Parks open this weekend.
With the holiday weekend coming up, it's the unofficial start of the "Frog Days Of Summer". The barbecue grills will be going, and our "Greg's Grill" recipes researchers have found another helpful video. We'd all like to do something to help the Oklahoma tornado victims. And we can. The American Red Cross is urging people to give blood, and you can help this Friday at a local blood drive in Utica.
Another sure sign of the "Frog Days Of Summer" is the start of "Saranac Thursdays", held in the parking lot of the F.X. Matt Brewery at the corner of Court and Varrick Streets in Utica. Tonight is the first of the season, featuring musical entertainment by Gridley Paige, a local favorite.

Talk about "no respect"! Recently, a man in the stands during a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field tried to protect his wife from getting hit with a home run ball hit where they were sitting. How does she thank him?
If you have teenagers, they may be interested in finding a part-time job this summer. Once again, there's help for teens looking for jobs in central New York.
Yogi Berra reportedly once said this about a restaurant, "That place is so crowded, nobody goes there anymore". Apparently, that's what's happening these days with cheap beer. The more "hip" it becomes to buy cheap beer, the more taverns are charging for it.
During the baseball season, we've featured videos of how the different Major League Baseball teams deal with the "7th inning stretch" - when fans can stand up, stretch and get back into the game. One of the all-time classic versions of the stretch took place in Comiskey Park, when Chicago White Sox radio/TV announcer Harry Caray * would lead the crowd in "Take Me Out To The Ballgame".
I've searched for some great "how to" grilling and barbecue recipes and videos with "Greg's Grill" recipes. We've all probably grilled up hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken, but now let's take it up a notch to a beef tenderloin.
One sure sign that the "Frog Days Of Summer" are on the way is the beginning of those free outdoor concerts in central New York. Generally, area villages and towns have a particular night of the week for their musical events, and this Wednesday night, the Village Of Whitesboro begins its "Concerts In The Park" series. Here are more details.
