Severe Thunderstorm Watch Upgraded To Warning Until 7:00 (5/29/13)

The National Weather Service has upgraded the severe thunderstorm watch to a warning for Western Oneida, Northern Madison and Onondaga counties until 5:30 this afternoon.  Click for the storms track.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR… FULTON COUNTY IN EASTERN NEW YORK… THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF… JOHNSTOWN… GLOVERSVILLE… SOUTHERN HERKIMER COUNTY IN EASTERN NEW YORK… THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF… LITTLE FALLS… ILION… HERKIMER… WESTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY IN EASTERN NEW YORK… THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF… FONDA… CANAJOHARIE…

* UNTIL 700 PM EDT

* AT 557 PM EDT… NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL… AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR CEDARVILLE… OR NEAR ILION… AND MOVING EAST AT 50 MPH.

* THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL BE NEAR… JORDANVILLE BY 605 PM EDT… 7 MILES SOUTH OF LITTLE FALLS BY 610 PM EDT… FORT PLAIN AND 6 MILES SOUTH OF ST. JOHNSVILLE BY 625 PM EDT… CANAJOHARIE… AMES AND 7 MILES SOUTH OF EPHRATAH BY 630 PM EDT… 9 MILES SOUTH OF JOHNSTOWN BY 640 PM EDT… FONDA BY 645 PM EDT…

AT 536 PM EDT…A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS REPORTED CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL…AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.  THIS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR CLINTON…MOVING EAST AT 60 MPH.
AT 431 PM EDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL…AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.  THIS STORM WAS LOCATED 6 MILES WEST OF PLAINVILLE… AND MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH.

* THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL BE NEAR…
  PLAINVILLE AND LYSANDER BY 442 PM EDT…
  BALDWINSVILLE BY 454 PM EDT…
  VILLAGE GREEN AND SENECA KNOLLS BY 456 PM EDT…
  LIVERPOOL BY 506 PM EDT…
  BREWERTON BY 514 PM EDT…
  CICERO BY 516 PM EDT…

The thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 11 tonight.  Among the counties included in the storm area are; Oneida, Herkimer and Onondaga, Chenango, Cortland, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego,  and Otsego

WITH A MOIST ATMOSPHERE…THUNDERSTORMS MAY ALSO PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL…CAUSING PONDING ON ROADWAYS AND OTHER AREAS OF POOR DRAINAGE.
Gusty winds may also be a problem during the storms.  Mother nature seems to be having trouble finding her calendar, another cold front moves in Sunday and may mean highs of 50 on Monday.  As the front moves in it could mean more storms too.  You can keep up date with the latest forecasts here.
