It was only three days ago American Pharoah won the first triple crown since 1978. Although his win wasn't as wide as Secretariat's, it was still memorable. It also makes sense since American Pharoah shares a bloodline with Secretariat. But how would American Pharoah stack up against Secretariat? Find out in this side by side video of the two races.

Secretariat's Triple Crown win was so great, setting records in all three events, that still stand today, it was made into a Disney movie. The final scene stayed pretty close to the original race and gives me chills every time I watch it. Although I didn't get to see it in person, I can say I saw the latest Triple Crown winning race.

Secretariat was euthanized in 1989 at the age of 19, after suffering from a incurable hoof condition. In 2007, Secretariat was inducted into the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame; the first time an animal received this honor.
