Fall is such a beautiful time. We see so many amazing colors in upstate New York. The worst part about fall, having to rake up your yard. Scientists want you to avoid that all together.

Scientists at the National Wildlife Federation are now encouraging people to leave the leaves on your yards. Seriously, don't rake them. But why? USA Today reports dead leaves are important habitats for all sorts of creatures.

Butterflies, salamanders, chipmunks, box turtles, toads, shrews, earthworms, and other creatures live, lay eggs in or eat from leaves, according to NWF's plea with the public to let the leaves stay where gravity left them."

So there you have it, build life in your yard and not rake. Science says its ok.
