Saranac Lake Winter Festival Begins Friday January 31st.
The Saranac Lake Winter Festival, which began as a one day event in 1897 has grown to a ten day celebration. The annual festival kicks off Friday January 31st and runs through February 9th.
The official lighting ceremony and opening fireworks will be held Saturday evening Febraury 1st.
The winter festival is fun for all ages. In addition to the ice sculptures, there are a number of events planned; from races, games and contests to music, crafts and a parade.
Preparations for this year's festival began on January 17th when the first ice block was cut out of Pontiac Bay on Lake Flower.
