Rome’s Joe Melioris Enjoying Baseball Life

There is a scene in the movie “Field of Dreams” where one of the characters asks “Is this heaven?” to which Ray, the main character responds, “No, it’s Iowa”. That could well be a scene out of the life of Rome’s Joe Melioris who is following his baseball dream this season with the Cedar Rapids Kernals of the Class A Midwest League. According to a story in the Utica O-D Joe is truly “livin’ the dream”.
“It’s a blast,” I’m playing baseball for my job right now. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
How is he doing? So far the big–6’11–right hander has appeared in 23 games with a 3-3 won-lost record, a 5.12 ERA and 31 K’s in 45 innings. For a full look at his stats click here.
