The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the Grand Opening of the FX Matt Brewing Company's Saranac 1888 Tavern and Tasting Room.

While previously operating as a tasting room only available to patrons at the end of their brewery tours, the Craft New York Act of 2014 allows the brewery to operate as a public bar as well.

"Our Brewery has been making beer in our area for four generations" said Nick O. Matt, CEO of the F.X. Matt Brewing Company. "Now, due to Governor Andrew Cuomo's groundbreaking legislation designed specifically to enhance business in New York State, we can offer beer lovers more opportunities to drink our beer right here at our brewery."

The Tavern and Tasting Room will be open to the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 8:00 until Memorial Day.

After Memorial Day, it will be open Monday through Wednesday from 12:00 to 6:00, in addition to Thursday through Saturday until 8:00.

The scheduled may change due to spring/summer concert dates at the Brewery.
