How To Safely Remove Giant Hogweed At No Cost

Here in Central New York, the DEC would like to assist you at no charge to remove the giant hogweed plant from your property.

From late April through August, the DEC has launched a NYSDEC Giant Hogweed Control Program. This programs has eight field crews across the state employing 12 field technicians. These super heros remove the giant plant for free from your property.

How do you report a site for control? All you have to do is call the giant hogweed hotline at (845) 256-3111 or email DEC with photos and more. The DEC will send out a crew and investigate. At NO COST. If giant hogweed is confirmed through the photos, the landowner will be sent a packet that contains a letter of notification, a document on control methods, and a permission form to be signed and returned to the NYSDEC.
