Remembering The True Meaning of Memorial Day

Sometimes in the excitement of the long three day Memorial Day weekend we unintentionally overlook the true significance of the day itself. We should all remind ourselves that it a time, a day, to honor those men and women who have given their lives in service to our nation. Country music is well represented when it comes to songs that honor our fallen heroes.
“Arlington” by Trace Adkins, “If You’re Reading This” by Tim McGraw and one that is near and dear to the hearts of my fellow Vietnam veterans “More Than A Name On A Wall” by the Statler Brothers are just a few of the many songs that bring to mind our service men and women’s sacrifices. However there is one song that encapsulates this feeling for me, “Some Gave All” by Billy Ray Cyrus.
