The Division of Criminal Justice Services for New York State just released a list of Registered Sex Offenders in each county for New York State. How many live in Central New York?

This list has Registered Sex Offenders by County as of December 5, 2017. They broke it down by the following levels:

Level 1 = low risk of repeat offense
Level 2 = moderate risk of repeat offense
Level 3 = high risk of repeat offense
Level P = offender is registered but risk of repeat offense has not yet been determined"

Here's a look at Central New York Counties:

Cayuga:

Level 1 99, Level 2 120, Level 3 62, and Level P 1. 282 total.

 

Cortland:

Level 1 66, Level 2 74, Level 3 35, and Level P 2.177 total.

 

Herkimer:

Level 1 90, Level 2 52, Level 3 34, and Level P 2. 178 total.

 

Madison:

Level 1 74, Level 2 64, Level 3 50, and Level P 0. 188 total.

 

Oneida:

Level 1 252, Level 2 293, Level 3 416, and Level P 1. 962 total.

 

Onondaga:

Level 1 407, Level 2 412, Level 3 252, and Level P 8. 1079 total.

 

Oswego:

Level 1 151, Level 2 184, Level 3 108, and Level P 0. 443 total.

 

Tompkins:

Level 1 64, Level 2 56, Level 3 35, and Level P 0. 155 total.

Please note that this document lists offenders by the risk level reported to the Division of Criminal Justice Services. Certain offenders were assigned a risk level in a manner found to be unconstitutional by a federal court. Therefore, it is possible that the number of level 2 or level 3 sex offenders listed in a county may include certain offenders who have not yet been afforded a constitutionally sufficient hearing to determine the risk level and are not listed in the Subdirectory."

So when you look at  Central New York, the top three highest counties are: Onondaga, Oneida, and Oswego.

Top Level 1 County: Onondaga

Top Level 2 County: Onondaga

Top Level 3 County: Oneida
