Our thoughts and prayers are with Reba McEntire and her family after her father passed away. Her sister Susie broke the news on Facebook. Clark McEntire died Thursday at the age of 87.

Clark McEntire enjoyed life longer than the family anticipated after having a stroke in 2011. Reba says they were 'ready to say their goodbyes more than once.'  Clark wasn't ready, spending three more years with his family before being called home.

Clark was a World Champion Steer Roper three times (1957, 1958, and 1961) who was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 1979, the same year Reba released a song about her dad's life, appropriately called 'Daddy.'

The news of Clark's death comes on the heels of Reba announcing her new record deal with Nash Icon and a new album on the way.
