It's the day Tad has been waiting years for. Saturday I'm taking a pie in the face to benefit Michele Morgan, a Middleville volunteer firefighter with cancer.

In late November Morgan, was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. A diagnosis that would change not only her and her family’s lives, but an entire community; the same community where she's touched so many lives.

Michele has been a member of the Middleville Volunteer Fire Department for over 21 years, serving many of those years as an EMT. Her husband Donnie, current President of the Middleville Fire Department has served just as long, right by her side. They have not only touched people with their sincerity, but at times rescued their homes, families and even pets from destruction. Michele has responded to thousands of calls and put in countless hours training and serving with a caring heart, hoping to help anyone in need, without question or prejudice.

Morgan is also a loving wife and mom. She can often be seen helping the sports booster club, or helping her son build a community garden for Eagle Scouts.

The community has come together to hold a benefit for Michele Saturday March 28th at West Canada Valley High School in Newport from 12-6p. The celebrity 'Pie in the Face' auction beings at 3pm. Highest bidder gets the pie. There will also be food, music, raffles, face painting and bounce houses for the kids. Get more details on Facebook.

"It is time to return to her family what she has given to our community. We want to show how we can stand together to help her fight this disease," says former Middleville Mayor and family friend Liz Schrader.
