If you don't like the weather, stick around it'll change.  Following our run of unseasonably hot temperatures comes a frost advisory tonight.  With lows will ranging from 32 to 37, it may be wise to protect your plants,  Here are some tips.
 The forecast from The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a frost advisory from midnight tonight to 8 am Thursday.

locations... Central and Southern New York and all of Northeast Pennsylvania.
hazards...areas of frost. The frost will be more patchy across Metro Syracuse
timing...frost formation will begin shortly after midnight and persist through sunrise.
According to Cornell Cooperative Extension covering plants "can give you 2 to 5 degrees F protection."
The covers can be laid right over the crop, or can be supported on stakes. The difference being that protection is less wherever the cover touches the plant. Any material can be used to cover the plants, however woven fabrics are better insulators then plastics or paper. The best time to apply covers is in the late afternoon after the wind has died down. Remove covers the next morning before the sun hits them.
