If I'm going to ride 15 miles in the Tour de Cure, I'll need a bike.  Thankfully Dan at Schuss Ski & Bike Shop in New Hartford has bikes and knows all about them.  He even set me up with special biking shoes and shorts with the padding in all the rights spots, thank goodness.  15 miles is hard on your behind.

I'll admit, I went in apprehensive, since I'm not comfortable on bikes.  But Dan and his great staff took it slow.  From teaching me how to get on and off a bicycle, to changing gears and pedaling.  When I left I actually felt a little better about the bicycle.  I even pedaled for about 15 minutes while he was teaching me, to get a head start on training.  I also realized all that pedaling will be good for your behind.  We'll be bouncing quarters off it by the summer.

The kick off event is being held at Schuss on Commercial Drive Tuesday March 13th from 5-8pm.  So come by, sign up to go 'Pedalin' With Polly Wogg' and support a great cause; the American Diabetes Association.  Plus you can get some of those special bike shorts with the padding, a must! Plus there will be people on hand for all the information you need including free training sessions at Paragon Athletic Club on Seneca Turnpike.  If I can do it, so can you.

I’m Riding For
I’ll be riding in honor of my father in law who had diabetes and passed away over a year ago, as well as Bigg Vinny from Trailer Choir.  Vinny suffered from diabetes before going on ‘The Biggest Loser.’  If he can go from over 400 pounds to less than 200, I can ride 15 miles – I hope.

How You Can Help
I can’t do this alone. I need your support. You can help by joining my team ‘Pedalin’ with Polly Wogg.’  If you use the password FROG (in all caps) you’ll get $10 off your registration.  Then just raise $150 in pledges.  Don’t want to ride 15 miles?  You can show your support by donating to the cause.  Everyone who donates will go into a drawing for a number of great prizes, including FrogFest tickets with backstage passes and the bike I’ll be riding from Schuss Ski & Bike shop.  Thanks to Dan for allowing us to raffle the bike off.  It’s just our way to say thanks for supporting the American Diabetes Association and Big Frog 104.
