34th street isn't the only place where Christmas miracles happen. One Rome family will have a brighter holiday thanks to one police officer who traded in his badge for a Santa hat

Christmas came early at Brian Grant's home thanks to Officer Jeff Buckley who knew what a rough year Brian has had. "He's been going back and forth to Cincinnati Children's Hospital as his 2 year-old son Grayson was diagnosed with aplastic anemia," says Buckley. "He's had bone marrow transplants and just last March there was still issues with brain pressure with Grayson."

Knowing Brian was struggling during the holidays, Officer Buckley stepped up. "I wanted to reach out as a father, a policeman, a Christian also just a human being. I felt somebody has to do something for them."

This is what we do as law enforcement. We want to help people. It's more than just a job. We actually invest in the community

Monday morning Santa Buckley arrived with a sack full of gifts for the kids. Grayson and his 3 year-old sister Hope even got to open a few presents while Officer Buckley was at the house. The rest will be under the tree for Christmas morning. "He (Brian) doesn't have a whole lot. So Christmas morning he'll have something to give his kids. That's a kind of a present for him as well, as a father to be able to provide for his family."

It's hard to tell who the moment meant more to. "He welled up with tears. He was so thankful. He just kept saying, 'I don't know what to say. I don't know what to do. Nobody has ever done anything like this for me," says Buckley. "I just told him to just enjoy your family and celebrate with them."

Christmas just got a whole lot brighter for Brain Grant and his children and he couldn't  be more grateful. "I've had my ups and downs, but at the end of the day that badge is a job for some and a life for others. Today my kids are happy and it's not because of me. It's because of Officer Buckley. I can't thank you enough," says Grant.

As with any true hero, Officer Buckley didn't want to be in the spotlight. "It's not about me. It's about those children and that family. That's all I wanted. I didn't expect all this attention."

This isn't the first time the Rome Police department has stepped up to help at Christmas. Last year, officer Paige bought gifts for a family who had theirs stolen. "This is what we do as law enforcement. We want to help people. It's more than just a job. We actually invest in the community," says Buckley.

Forget 34th street, there's a miracle on Brian's street in Rome this holiday.
