One of the "Outlaws" of country music is celebrating his 75th birthday today...Merle Haggard. We'll kick off this morning's "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. with Merle's number one song from 1968, "Mama Tried".
Earlier, we learned that the Utica Boilermaker Road Race 15k slots were all filled. Today, according to press@boilermaker.com, the 5k hit its race cap of 4,000 registrants. As Race Director Jim Stasaitis said, "Last year at this time, we had 59 runners signed up."

This year's Utica Boilermaker Road Race is on the minds of many runners already in early March, as spots are filling up fast.
While we're still a few months away from this year's Utica Boilermaker Road Race (Sunday, July 8), you can participate by sharing memories of Boilermakers passed. Many of us who have lived in central New York for several years have been a part of the Boilermaker in some way - running, cheering or sharing the celebration of family and friends entered in the race.
It looks like this year's Boilermaker Road Race is well on the way in filling entries. At latest count, the Boilermaker is at the half-way point of total runners.
The Boilermaker Road Race is the signature event of the summer, and it looks like this year's race is well on its way with entries. While it's only January, the popularity of the Boilermaker nationwide means that slots fill up well in advance of race day, Sunday, July 8th.

If you're planning to run the Boilermaker road race in Utica this year, you can sign up starting tomorrow. Registration opens for the 15k and 5k runs. Entries are limited to 14,000 runners in the 15k race and 4,000 in the 5k. Sign up online or at Planet Fitness in New Hartford from 8 until noon.
